Today I discovered Spitalfields Life - an interesting blog in its own right, but particularly interesting to me because of my connection with the area.
While browsing, I discovered a piece on Fred the chestnut seller and immediately recognised him from a photo I took nearly five years ago:
He seems to have aged pretty gracefully.
I wonder just how many photos Fred appears in? Most people live their lives reasonably anonymously, but someone like Fred, who works in public in a relatively busy and somewhat touristy spot, must be the subject of holiday snaps in albums and dusty draws the world over. Does this equate to fame? Perhaps a strange kind of fame where both the famous individual, and the people who take the photos, are not particularly conscious of its existence.
